Fairbairns, Judy

'I came from the city as a young wife and mother into this wild place and never looked back. I learned its music and the heartbeat of its wild wide ocean, one that surrounded us and whose moods ruled our life. As we worked many businesses, just to keep afloat, our children ran free as air along the ancient rocks, through natural forests and over hills thick clad with wild mountain thyme. I learned many skills on this rocky island such as how to survive, not only the seasons, not only the cripplingly hard work, but my marriage too, and all of it with a laugh in my mouth.'
